Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded songs online in the year 2012. Her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 Five Finger Discount. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21 2015. Later that year her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat, a track she performed with Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. On the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. She was featured with Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16th, and made the track available as a solo single to her first album. A music video debuted 20 February 2019 in order to go along with the track. Within the first week, it had over 3,000,000 views. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
